GFWC International Day of Service ~ September 25, 2026

September 25 was the VIA’s GFWC International Day of Service, again, focused on Human Trafficking.  The focus was on the realities and connections found in HT, DV, SA, and drug abuse. Our watching of the general training video promoted by the Attorney General was meaningful, but the addition of the SAO’s presentation that provided local examples and testimonials was very impactful.  We are grateful for the time and energy that went into everyone’s participation and the Judge facilitating the special courtroom time.

Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Tara Green’s office facilitated the requested “Home Cookin’” collections for Quigley House (Clay County’s DV center) with support from the VIA. These items included new kitchen supplies for victims of DV that are in the “transition” phase of trying to start a new and safe life on their own.  More often than not, these women leave everything they have in search of a safe place.

Camp Heritage for Grandparents and Grandchildren
June 22-26, 2026

The success of Camp Heritage for Grandparents and Grandchildren was made possible through the partnership of many community organizations, including the Village Improvement Association, the Green Cove Springs Preservation Society, the Clay County Historical Society, the Clay County Clerk of Court, the City of Green Cove Springs, the Friends of the Green Cove Springs Library, and the Village Improvement Association Arts & Culture Committee. Together, these organizations planned, hosted, and supported this unique educational experience, giving campers an inside look at how a community works. Campers and grandparents left with a new respect for the work of public servants, community volunteers, and preservationists who help protect both our history and our future.
